Here are two of our three Blue Jays. We started feeding the birds a few weeks ago so far these are the most interesting (and beautiful) species to have come to our yard. We also have sparrows (by the dozens), chickadees, woodpeckers, and some brown speckled bird I can't identify yet. Posted by Picasa

My Little TomBoy Princess

We were having a pj day and then Journey came out with this beautiful dress and asked if she could wear it. She didn't want to take off her pj's though (which are covered with all the Canadian Hockey Team logos .. she's a BIG fan!). She is very much like her mother. Princess gentleness often hidden beneath a variety of 'rougher' or less sophisticated hobbies and pursuits. Posted by Picasa

One of my best purchases this year was a swingset for only $25! Journey would stay out there all day if she could ... just swinging. I remember feeling that way about swings when I was a kid too. (still do actually) And its kinda cool, cause when we moved into the house we are in now there was an adult swing hanging from one of the trees so Journey and I can both have fun. Posted by Picasa

Journey loves to make silly faces but finds it even more fun when she can get us to make faces too. This is one of her faves. Posted by Picasa

Quiet Times

Garron and I have gotten caught up in the Sudoku craze and Journey is mad about books. So this is a common scene at our house - two or more of us huddled together just 'doin' our thing' . Posted by Picasa

I realized most of my Sol pics are of him on his back. So I thought I'd show you some from a different angle for a change. I didn't notice when I was taking these that he was wearing a stripey suit and lying on our stripey bedspread. So many lines! He's five months old now! And still very smiley. Posted by Picasa

The fall before we were married (or even engaged!) I went with Garron and his family on their annual hunting trip. I got up before the sun, pushed bush for the guys and even helped track a deer they wounded. Garron's brother told him my interest in the whole process would disappear once we were married (that it was just a 'dating' tactic) but I've proved HIM wrong! My desire to hunt was real and had nothing to do with the fact that the man of my dreams was involved. Since that first trip I have accompanied Garron on a number of occasions but never the 'successful' ones. This year, FINALLY, I got to see the kill shot ... and shake the growing suspicion that I must be some sort of bad luck charm ...

I am proud of the fact that it was I who first spotted this doe and brought her to Garrron's attention. If I had my own hunting license and gun I do believe I would have taken the shot myself. However, I did not have those things and had to relegate the thrill to Garron. BUT, hopefully next year I, too, will be "armed and dangerous"!

Garron asked me if I really thought I could go through with a shot at such a 'beautiful animal' and I must admit I think I could. In fact, after sitting beside Garron as he took his shot I would have to say that it would be the harsh and deafeningly loud report of the gun that would make me hesitate to pull the trigger more than the beauty of any deer! Garron and his 'other woman'

 Posted by Picasa

Lots of people keep telling me that they look so alike but I don't really think so. They have very different facial features and completely different hair color. (sol is blonde and journey is red) I think Journey looks most like the Rish side of things and Sol is more James/Jordan. What do you think? Posted by Picasa

Friends!

Journey had her friends Caleb and Alaiyah (sp?) Jardine over Tuesday afternoon. They had lots of fun playing together. Caleb is just a few months younger than Journey and Alaiyah is about 6 months older than Sol. Their mom Crystal is a wonderful woman ... someone I very much admire and respect. Posted by Picasa

I do Exist!

I'm usually behind the camera which is why I don't show up in the blog pics very often. Posted by Picasa

Oh Deer!

Garron went hunting with his dad and brother this week out in the mountains and came home with this little 'spiker'. He wasn't going for a 'record' buck ... just a full freezer. And this should just about do the trick. Journey loves to talk about hunting and watch hunting shows with her daddy. She watched the entire skinning process this year. She kept saying "Yuck, yuck, yucky" and "why is his tongue sticking out, mommy?" and "is he bleeded?" ... but when I suggested we go in so she wouldn't have to see all the 'yuck' she refused saying "No, I WANT to watch!". Posted by Picasa

Journey and Daddy playin' with the Camera

Journey loves to be in, and take, pictures. She always asks to see it right away (thanks to the immediacy of digital). She doesn't understand why she can't see the pictures right away on grandma Rish's old film camera. A true child of the electonic age.

I set this ring and the reindeer beside Sol and turned around for no more than 3 seconds! When I looked back he had the ring on his arm and the reindeer on top of him. He pulls on everything he can get his hands on. One day I came in and he had pulled that pillow on top of his head and had fallen asleep. Scary. Posted by Picasa

Stretchin' Out

Sol likes to roll around on the floor. He goes pretty good from his tummy to his back. Its tough to get him to go the other way though cuz he HATES being on his stomach. Posted by Picasa

Onto Solids

Momma's milk just won't cut it anymore. Sol is onto solids now. Pablum mainly but he also enjoys gnawing the occasional Arrowroot cookie. (Gosh, I love those!) Posted by Picasa

Big Boy

Here is Sol in his swing. He LOVES his swing!
He's a very smiley guy and enjoys sitting here watching everyone and everything around him. Posted by Picasa
