4 Years Young

I've been contemplating my little girl, Journey. A gift I never want to take for granted. I find myself captivated by her precocious personality. In awe of the mysteries her mind mulls over. Disarmed by her frankness. Intrigued by her boundaries.
I see myself in her and yet also so much of her own self. I love the things we have in common and laugh with warm recognition at the traits she so obviously got from me.

On Saturday we invited family over for Journey's second 4th birthday party. She was quite sick and didn't have the energy to fully take in all that was happening on her behalf ... but I know she had fun and enjoyed having all her grammas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and cousins come to wish her well.
We were all impressed with Garron's 'melting snowman' cake!

Birthday Pics from Journey's Party's

On Friday we invited some of Journey's school and church friends over to celebrate her birthday. There were 11 kids in all!! Thankfully some of the other mom's stayed and gave me a hand. Our game was pin the buttons on the snowman. Our cake was really a lot of cupcakes decorated like snowmen, complete with real carrot noses! But Journey's favorite part, by far, was breaking the homemade pinata open and gathering up the candies that were inside.

Sol in his new shirt from Bolivia

Sol's cousins in Bolivia sent him this shirt/vest combo for Christmas. We thought it might be too big but as it turns out if fits him perfectly!
Thanks Culmer Clan. Journey loves the ducky you sent her Collin! It sleeps in her bed with her and brings both her and Sol many smiles as they throw it around the room to get it to quack.
